Simflex offers
accuracy, productivity and reliability in a fast and easy to use package. A
typical system takes about 10 minutes to input, to analyze, and to generate
graphics and reports.
The most unique feature of SIMFLEX program is its Once-Through approach of
analysis. With this approach, the program can see through all the load
conditions involved. Therefore, it automatically combines the load cases
involved to calculate the thermal expansion STRESS RANGE, the sustained stress,
and the occasional stress involving earthquake, wind, and other occasional
loads. A complete code stress compliance table is generated tabulating all the
calculated stresses against the allowable stresses. This table can also be
presented in a one-page graphical chart, including all the data points of the
system analyzed
Peng Engineering also offers consulting services in pipe stress analysis and
pipe stress training. Our expertise in these areas has been deployed in more
than two dozen countries.
All SIMFLEX programs use the Component Oriented Keyword Free-format Input
(COKFI) scheme.
With this input scheme a very complex valve station, for instance, can be
described easily with only one data point. Furthermore, this scheme allows the
analyst, the third party checker, as well as the computer, to read and
comprehend the meaning of the data. This improves greatly the quality of the
analysis performed. Just take a look at how concise and clear the descriptions
for a complex valve station can be.

SIMFLEX programs have very comprehensive graphical features for verifying
input data and reviewing analysis results. More details are presented in the
sections below:

SIMFLEX Isometric Drawings
SIMFLEX generates two types of isometric drawings. The first type, shown
below, depicts either a complete piping system or a locally zoomed portion of
the system. All isometrics have screen and printer versions.
(a). Screen Version : As appears on the screen.

(b). Printer Version : Provides a cleaner, more detailed plot for easier
checking, sign-off and reporting purposes.

SIMFLEX Consecutive Segment Isometrics
The second type of isometric generated by SIMFLEX displays either an
isometric drawing of the complete piping system or just a range of user
specified segments from the piping system. This second type also has display
options allowing the user to specify whether they wish to see node points,
support symbols, or other isometric symbols.
As mentioned above, the consecutive segment isometrics have screen and
printer versions. The following are printer versions.

SIMFLEX Deformed Shapes
The analysis results from SIMFLEX can be presented in graphical form for
added ease of review. The deformed shape for a specified load case is shown
below. Graphical representations are also available for reviewing stress
profiles and code stress compliance charts. These graphics also have screen and
printer versions.
(a). Screen Version : As appears on the screen.

(b). Printer Version : Provides a cleaner, more detailed plot for easier
checking, sign-off and reporting purposes.

SIMFLEX Stress Profiles
The stress profile chart is presented below. Since the calculated stresses
do not have any signs (+/-) associated with them, they can not be plotted in
isometric form. They are represented by the magnitude of vertical or horizontal
lines, depending on the slope of the main pipeline. These graphics have
screen and printer versions.
